ABOUT
Values in Action (VIA) programmes provide experiences that support students’ development, nurturing socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills. VIA is an important component of Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) that promotes student ownership and initiative.
As part of VIA, students reflect on their experience, the values they have put into practice, and how they can continue to contribute meaningfully.
Students of TPPS aim to be great servant leaders and contribute for the betterment of the school, family and the community.
Termly, students are given the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) booklets and encouraged to complete the Friends of Singa - Mission Card during TPPS Spring lessons. They submit the Mission Cards to SKM via Kindness Mailbox, located at the amphitheatre.
SKM rewards these students with mementos for their kindness efforts.
VIA PROJECTS
P1 and P2 students express their appreciation to the school helpers. They pen down their gratitude and concerns for those who have assisted in the daily cleaning of their classrooms.
The school helpers, in turn, share some information about themselves so that the students can get to know them better.
In conjunction with SBS Transit Kindness Month, P3 students pen down their gratitude to Bus Captains, accompanied by wonderful illustrations.
These write-ups are presented to SBS Transit to be given to the bus captains. As a school, we would like them to know that we greatly appreciate their services and are aware of the challenges that they go through.
Five students from each P4 class are selected for training as YAS guides for the sustainability project at Tampines Park. These students lead their classes at various stations during a guided tour of the sustainability project.
P4 students learn about waste food collection from the community, the vertical hydroponics farm where vegetables are grown, and how Black Soldier Flies help turn our food waste into fertiliser.
Junior Achievements (JA) in partnership with SABIC, one of the world’s top petrochemical companies, aims to play an active role in turning Singapore into a ‘green’ global city. The school joins them in the efforts to addressing environmental challenges, paving the way for a better Singapore.
P5 and P6 students interact with international volunteers to understand better about Global Warming and Climate Change. They come up with practical day-to-day actions to achieve a more sustainable lifestyle.
VIA PROJECTS
P4 and P5 students learn about the harmful effects of drug abuse from an activity booklet distributed by Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). This activity aims to promote greater understanding and peer sharing of the dangers of drug abuse.
Students take the stand to ‘Say No To Drugs’ and be the school’s Anti-Drug Ambassadors in support of a Resilient Drug-Free SG.
VIA PROJECTS
The 2-day Financial Literacy programme for P4 introduces students to financial literacy, and economic and social inclusion. They learn to make informed financial decisions and demonstrate values such as resilience, excellence, adaptability and self-efficacy.
Led by external facilitators, students are engaged in meaningful learning. They gain a deeper understanding of being super savers and wise spenders.
